Sep 28, 2005 - Rebuilding the Garage Stairs

When we built our garage back in 2001, I constructed a simple ships ladder to access our attic. It worked fine for limited access, but we soon found it was very difficult to carry anything up that steep ladder. In addition, a lot of heat was lost up the stairwell, which made it difficult to heat the garage when I was working in the winter. So, I decided to remove the ships ladder and build a set of real stairs that would also close off the attic to reduce heat loss. The new stairs are much nicer for carrying things upstairs and it is much easier to heat the garage now.
