Sep 02, 2023 - Widening Our Driveway

When we put our driveway in back in 2001 we routed it around a small group of trees on the edge of our yard. After we built our house and made further improvements to the driveway, the trees always felt like they stuck out in the driveway. This made it difficult for delivery trucks or to back my utility trailer down to the garage. So we decided to remove the trees and widen our driveway to straighten it out.

We hired a local tree company to cut down the trees, then we dug out three of the stumps ourselves. The fourth stump was quite large so we opted to have it ground down to save some time. We also had to split some large boulders and remove them from the driveway area too. Finally, we installed pressure treated 4x6's along the yard as edging, installed new sprinklers, planted grass, and spread new gravel on the driveway.
