Oct 01, 2020 - Repairing a Steel Entry Door

A few years ago the door frame rotted on our garage entry door. The steel door was still in good shape, so I kept the old door and just installed a new composite frame. While the interior and exterior door skins are made of steel, the inner core is still made of wood. Now a few years later the bottom edges of the door frame had started rotting too. Since the door was in good condition otherwise, I thought I would try repairing the door. I wasn't sure how the door was put together, but in the end I think the repair turned out nicely and should last many more years.
